Audi A5 F5 — Every OEM Activation You Can Unlock

A5 F5 vehicles in the US and Canadian market ship with Matrix LED hardware physically installed and — on Laser-equipped trims — a dedicated Laser high beam unit in the housing. Both are software-restricted from the factory due to historical NHTSA lighting rules that did not permit segmented adaptive beam or Laser high beam. The hardware is there; the software gate is closed.

RetroLab Pro re-enables Matrix segment control and — where Laser hardware is present — the Laser high beam that engages at motorway speeds:

• Per-segment LED masking of oncoming and preceding vehicles
• Dynamic light distribution based on speed, steering angle and navigation data
• Motorway mode for extended range
• Cornering mode at intersections
• Laser engagement at motorway speeds (Laser-equipped A5 / S5 / RS5)

Applies to A5, S5 and RS5 F5 — Sportback, Coupé and Cabriolet — model years 2020–2023 with factory Matrix (and optional Laser) hardware. Model year 2024+ vehicles with SFD2 protection are supported for an additional €100 via a guided remote session. Price: €200, one-time, permanent, VIN-verified.

From the factory the A5 Sportback electric tailgate only starts closing while you press and hold the key fob button — and only within close range. This activation converts the key fob and interior tailgate switch to single-press close: one quick tap sends the full close command, and the tailgate closes on its own even after you have already walked away from the car. Opening (long-press) stays exactly as before.

Applies to A5 Sportback and S5 Sportback F5, model years 2017–2020 with the factory electric tailgate. Not offered on A5 Coupé or Cabriolet (no powered tailgate hardware), or 2021+ facelift model years. Price: €65, one-time, permanent.

Three more OEM activations that many A5 F5 owners are surprised they can enable:

• Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) — Activates OEM TSR on A5 F5 vehicles equipped with the PR-QK1 front camera. Configures the camera, cluster and navigation link end-to-end so speed limits and other road signs are picked up from the road and displayed in the Virtual Cockpit or Instrument Cluster Top exactly like a factory-optioned car. Requires PR-QK1 front camera + Virtual Cockpit or Instrument Cluster Top + Navigation System. Works on both EU and NAR-spec, model years 2017–2023. €75.
• Lane Assist (Active Lane Keeping) — The same PR-QK1 front camera used for TSR is already reading the lane markings on every A5 F5 — this activation wires that data to the steering column, adding corrective steering and a lane departure warning in the cluster. Includes a free 1-click app-based ON/OFF toggle if the OEM stalk button is not retrofitted. Requires PR-QK1 front camera, model years 2017–2023. €50.
• Subwoofer Menu (MIB3) — Facelift A5 F5 (2020+) trims with the Audi Sound System (PR-9VD) show only Bass and Treble in the MMI Sound menu. This activation unlocks a dedicated Subwoofer slider next to Bass so you can dial the low end independently — a real quality-of-life fix in the tighter A5 Coupé cabin. Requires MIB3 + PR-9VD, not compatible with Bang & Olufsen 3D. €50.

All three are one-time, permanent and VIN-verified.

Three visual activations to complete the F5 platform:

• Dynamic S/RS Taillight Animation — Enables OEM S / RS-style dynamic lock/unlock light animation on A5 / S5 / RS5 F5 vehicles with PR-8VM LED taillights. EU, ROW and NAR all supported. Model years 2020–2023. €100.
• RS Laser Headlight Welcome Animation (PR-8IZ) — On Facelift A5 F5 cars fitted with Matrix LED + Laser Light (option code PR-8IZ), activates the OEM RS5 Laser headlight startup / shutdown animation played on unlock and lock. On A5 F5 Facelift cars delivered without any factory animation, this activation adds the RS5 sequence directly. Requires factory Matrix LED + Laser Light (PR-8IZ). €150.
• QQ2 Entry Color Customization — On vehicles with factory multicolor ambient lighting (PR-QQ2), lets you change the entry/exit ambient colour from white to blue, red or green. €35.
