Can RetroLab Pro enable Matrix headlights on US Audi models?
Yes. RetroLab Pro activates factory Matrix LED headlights on all supported US/NAR-spec Audi models — A4, A5, A6, RS6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, Q8, e-tron GE, and e-tron GT. The hardware is already physically present in your vehicle. We re-enable the adaptive lighting via a VIN-specific OEM workflow, with no physical modifications to the car.
How much does Audi Matrix headlight activation cost in the US?
Standard activation costs $240 USD (€200). Model years 2024+ with Audi SFD2 software protection are $360 USD (€300) and require a guided remote session. Blue Laser and RS Animation headlight sequences are a flat +$60 USD each when activated together with Matrix. Is it legal to unlock Matrix headlights in the US?
Matrix LED headlights are fully legal in the US and Canada. NHTSA updated FMVSS 108 (effective February 2022) to allow segmented adaptive high beam, and Transport Canada's CMVSS 108 mirrors US standards closely. Canadian-spec Audis carry the same factory Matrix hardware as US models — the activation is identical.

Does RetroLab Pro support 2024 and 2025 Audi models?
2024+ model year vehicles for A6 C8, A7 C8, A8 D5, Q7 4M, and Q8 4M are supported via a guided remote session (+$120 SFD2 surcharge, $360 total). A4 B9, A5 F5, and Q5 FY in 2024+ are currently not supported. e-tron GE/Q8 e-tron and e-tron GT have their own detailed tiers on the respective product pages.
What hardware do I need for the activation?
You need a Windows PC or an iPhone (13/14 with Lightning-to-LAN adapter, or iPhone 15/16/17 with USB-C-to-LAN adapter), an ENet cable (often sold as a "BMW ENet cable" — it's a standard DoIP diagnostic cable that works on all Audi MLBevo platforms), and your vehicle parked with the ignition on.
Do I need a coding tool like OBDeleven to activate Matrix headlights?
No. Third-party coding tools cannot perform this activation — Matrix headlight enabling requires a full OEM module recoding that goes beyond what those tools support. RetroLab Pro uses a VIN-specific OEM workflow that writes the correct module data directly.
How long does the activation take?
App-based activation (most model years 2018–2023) typically takes 10–20 minutes from the moment you connect the ENet cable. Remote-session activations for 2024+ SFD2-protected vehicles are scheduled and typically last around 1 hour.
Is the Matrix headlight activation permanent?
Yes. The licence is permanent and VIN-locked — one-time payment, no expiry. The coding persists through normal ignition cycles and battery replacements. Note: certain dealer software updates (such as an SVM run) or a full module reset can clear it, though a routine service visit won't. Since it's a lifetime VIN-based activation, simply rerun the RetroLab Pro app as many times as needed at no extra cost. Remote session reactivations are always free.
