Audi A8 D5 HD Matrix & Laser Headlights USA — 2018–2025 Activation Guide

HD Matrix and Laser headlight activation is available on 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 US-spec Audi A8 D5 (including S8).

The activation method depends on the model year:

• 2018–2023: app-based activation — €200 / ~$240 USD
• 2024–2025: guided remote session on a Windows PC (Audi's updated security architecture) — €300 / ~$360 USD

Required: factory HD Matrix LED headlights — standard on all US A8 D5 trims. Higher-spec A8 L and S8 models often include Laser Light as well, which also activates through RetroLab Pro.

HD Matrix LED activation restores the flagship-grade adaptive lighting system:

• Adaptive High Beam Assist — HD Matrix uses more segments than standard Matrix for finer masking precision around oncoming traffic
• Cornering Light — illuminates turns before the car rotates
• Highway Mode — extended beam range at speed, earlier hazard detection
• Intersection Mode — wide spread through junctions
• Dynamic Light Distribution — adapts continuously to speed, steering, and environment

Blue Laser Light add-on (Laser-equipped A8 L / S8 only, +€50 / ~$60):

• Activates the factory Laser projector for ultra-long-range high beam illumination (500m+)

The A8 D5 HD Matrix system is the same hardware as European flagship models. US delivery restrictions software-lock the adaptive functionality — this activation removes that restriction.

• iPhone 13/14 + Lightning-to-LAN adapter, or
• iPhone 15/16/17 + USB-C-to-LAN adapter
