Every US-spec Audi A7 C8, S7, and RS7 sold from 2019 onward comes with factory Matrix LED headlights — or, on higher trims, Laser headlights — software-locked before delivery. This guide covers all supported model years, what gets unlocked, and how to activate it.

Which A7 C8 Model Years Are Supported?

Matrix and Laser headlight activation is available on 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 US-spec Audi A7 C8 (including S7 and RS7 C8).

The activation method depends on the model year:

  • 2019–2023: app-based activation — €200 / ~$240 USD
  • 2024–2025: guided remote session on a Windows PC (Audi's updated security architecture) — €300 / ~$360 USD

Required: factory Matrix LED or Laser headlights. Nearly all US A7 Premium Plus and Prestige trims include Matrix hardware. Laser headlights appear on the highest Prestige configs and most RS7.

What Gets Unlocked on Your A7?

Matrix LED activation restores the full adaptive high-beam system:

  • Adaptive High Beam Assist — individual LED segments mask oncoming drivers in real time while keeping the road fully lit
  • Cornering Light — illuminates the direction of a turn before the car rotates
  • Highway Mode — extended beam range at motorway speeds
  • Intersection Mode — wider spread at low-speed junctions
  • Dynamic Light Distribution — beam adapts continuously to speed, steering, and road conditions

Laser headlight add-ons (Laser-equipped trims only, +€50 / ~$60 each):

  • Blue Laser Light — activates the factory laser projector for 500m+ high beam range
  • RS Animation — activates the RS-style dynamic sweep sequence on lock/unlock

The A7 C8 Matrix system is identical hardware to European models. The activation restores what Audi locked before US delivery.

If your A7 C8 has Premium Plus or Prestige trim, it almost certainly has factory Matrix LED headlights. Check your window sticker or myAudi app — if "Matrix LED Headlights" is listed, the hardware is present and can be activated via the app for €200 / ~$240 USD.
Does my 2024 or 2025 Audi A7 need a remote session?
