Audi A7 C8 — Every OEM Activation You Can Unlock

A7 C8 vehicles in the US and Canadian market ship with Matrix LED hardware physically installed but software-restricted. The hardware is already in the car — only the software gate is closed. RetroLab Pro re-enables Matrix segment control and restores the adaptive lighting behaviour Audi originally engineered for the C8 platform:

• Per-segment LED masking of oncoming and preceding vehicles
• Dynamic light distribution based on speed, steering angle and navigation data
• Motorway mode for extended range
• Cornering mode at intersections

Applies to A7 C8 Sportback, S7 C8, RS7 C8 — model years 2018–2023 with factory Matrix hardware. Model year 2024+ with SFD2 protection is supported for an additional €100 via a guided remote session. Price: €200, one-time, permanent, VIN-verified.

Most A7 C8 Sportback vehicles left the factory with every piece of hardware TSR needs — the PR-QK1 front camera, factory navigation, and a TSR-capable Virtual Cockpit — but with the feature itself dormant. Activate it and live traffic signs project into the Virtual Cockpit (and the head-up display when fitted) exactly the way a factory-coded A7 with TSR shows them.

The A7 C8 shares the C8 platform's SFD2 story with the A6:

• A7 C8 model years 2018 / 2019 / 2020 — €100, via the RetroLab Pro app. Guided workflow, ENet cable, no remote session.
• A7 C8 Facelift model years 2021 / 2022 / 2023 — €300, guided remote session only. those model years require a live Windows PC + ENet remote session — the end result on the car is identical to the app path.

Requires A7 C8 with PR-QK1 front camera + Virtual Cockpit or Instrument Cluster Top + Navigation System. Applies to A7, S7 and RS7.

Early A7 C8 Sportback vehicles (2018, 2019, 2020) shipped with the MHI2P head unit. The hardware supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto natively, but many trims left the factory without either enabled — the "Phone Apps" menu is simply absent.

RetroLab Pro activates both natively — no patches, no remote desktop sessions:

• Apple CarPlay — €100. Wired works immediately. Wireless CarPlay works too if your MHI2P software is version 2711 or newer.
• Android Auto — €100. Wired USB, full MMI integration.

Applies to A7 / S7 / RS7 C8 with MHI2P infotainment. MIB3 vehicles (typically the 2021+ facelift trims) usually ship with both already enabled — check for a "Phone Apps" tile before ordering.

The A7 C8 Sportback tailgate is heavy, powered and — from the factory — will only close while you press and hold the key fob button, within close range. This activation converts the key fob and the interior tailgate switch to single-press close: one quick tap and the tailgate closes on its own, even after you have already walked away. Opening (long-press) stays untouched.

Applies to A7, S7 and RS7 C8 Sportback, model years 2018–2022 with factory electric tailgate; select 2023 models also supported. Price: €65, one-time, permanent.

MIB3-equipped A7 C8 vehicles with the Audi Sound System (PR-9VD) only expose Bass and Treble in the MMI Sound menu. The subwoofer plays at a fixed level and cannot be balanced against the main bass — noticeable in the fastback cabin where the boot volume behaves differently from the sedan A6.

RetroLab Pro unlocks a dedicated Subwoofer slider next to Bass in MMI Sound. Requires A7 C8 with MIB3 + PR-9VD — MIB3 is standard on 2021+ facelift trims. Not compatible with the Bang & Olufsen 3D system. Price: €50, one-time, permanent.

A7 C8 Facelift cars fitted with Matrix LED + Laser Light (option code PR-8IZ) can run the OEM RS7 Laser headlight startup / shutdown animation on unlock and lock — the exact segment-by-segment sequence Audi programs from factory on RS7. On some Facelift cars the animation is missing entirely; on others the standard sequence plays and this activation upgrades it to the richer RS7 pattern.

This is a full OEM activation — the RS7 animation profile is written directly into the headlight controller, permanent, dealer-safe, and survives future software updates.

Requires Audi A7 C8 Facelift Sportback with Matrix LED + Laser Light (PR-8IZ) — model years 2020–2023. Applies to A7, S7 and RS7 C8. Not compatible with A7 C8 pre-facelift or non-Laser Light trims. Price: €150, one-time, permanent, VIN-verified.
