How to Enable Matrix Headlights on Audi e-tron GT

Your Audi e-tron GT has Matrix LED headlights — but if you bought it in the US, the best functions are software-locked. Adaptive high beam, dynamic light distribution, motorway mode — all disabled. Here is how to unlock the full Matrix experience safely on the e-tron GT grand tourer platform.

Activation Price: €200 / ~$240 USDOne-time • Permanent • VIN-verified

What Are Matrix LED Headlights?

Matrix LED headlights are Audi's most advanced lighting technology. Unlike standard LED headlights, Matrix LEDs use an array of individually controllable LED segments that can selectively illuminate or dim specific areas of the road. This enables features like:

  • Adaptive high beam assistant — Keeps high beam on while automatically masking oncoming and preceding vehicles.
  • Dynamic light distribution — Adjusts the beam pattern based on speed, steering angle and navigation data.
  • Motorway mode — Extends beam range at higher speeds.
  • Cornering mode — Widens the beam pattern when approaching intersections.
  • Laser high beam (on Laser-equipped trims) — Engages at motorway speeds to extend high-beam range dramatically.

On European e-tron GT models, all of these functions are fully active from the factory. On US models, the adaptive and dynamic functions are disabled at the software level even though the Matrix hardware is physically installed.

Which Audi e-tron GT Models Are Compatible?

Matrix headlight activation on the Audi e-tron GT is available for NAR-spec vehicles from 2021–2023 with factory Matrix LED (and optional Laser) headlights installed:

  • Audi e-tron GT quattro (2021–2023)
  • Audi RS e-tron GT (2021–2023)

Matrix activation requires the physical Matrix LED headlight hardware. Standard LED headlights cannot be upgraded to Matrix by software alone. Not supported: e-tron GE (SUV / Sportback — different platform).
