Audi A6 C8 — Every OEM Activation You Can Unlock

A6 C8 vehicles in the US and Canadian market ship with Matrix LED hardware physically installed but software-restricted — a legacy of the pre-2024 NHTSA rules that did not allow segmented adaptive high beam. The Matrix segments and the adaptive controller are already in the headlight; only the software gate is closed.

RetroLab Pro re-enables Matrix segment control and restores the adaptive lighting behaviour Audi originally engineered for the C8:

• Per-segment LED masking of oncoming and preceding vehicles
• Dynamic light distribution based on speed, steering angle and navigation data
• Motorway mode for extended range
• Cornering mode at intersections

Applies to A6 C8, S6 C8, RS6 C8 Avant / allroad — model years 2018–2023 with factory Matrix hardware. Model year 2024+ vehicles with SFD2 protection are supported for an additional €100 via a guided remote session. Price: €200, one-time, permanent, VIN-verified.

A large share of A6 C8 vehicles ship with everything Traffic Sign Recognition needs — the PR-QK1 front camera, factory navigation, and a TSR-capable Virtual Cockpit — but with the feature itself dormant in the car's coding. This activation switches it on so speed limits, no-overtaking and end-of-restriction signs appear live in the Virtual Cockpit and (when fitted) the head-up display, exactly the way a factory-coded A6 with TSR shows them.

The A6 C8 has a two-tier activation path driven by model year:

• A6 C8 model years 2018 / 2019 / 2020 — €100, via the RetroLab Pro app. No dealer, no remote session — a guided app workflow with an ENet cable.
• A6 C8 Facelift model years 2021 / 2022 / 2023 — €300, guided remote session only. The activation can only be reached through a live remote session on a Windows PC + ENet cable. The end result on the car is identical — the newer security layer on facelift cars just changes how we reach the modules. Model year 2024 and newer are not supported.

Requires A6 C8 with PR-QK1 front camera + Virtual Cockpit or Instrument Cluster Top + Navigation System. Applies to A6, S6, RS6 Avant and A6 allroad.

Early A6 C8 vehicles (2018, 2019, 2020) shipped with the MHI2P infotainment head unit. The hardware fully supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but on many trims neither is activated from the factory — the "Phone Apps" menu item is simply absent.

RetroLab Pro activates both CarPlay and Android Auto natively — no firmware patches, no remote desktop sessions, no third-party software layer:

• Apple CarPlay — €100. Wired works immediately. Wireless CarPlay works too if your MHI2P software is version 2711 or newer.
• Android Auto — €100. Wired USB connection. Full integration with the MMI display.

Applies to A6 C8, S6, RS6 with MHI2P infotainment. MIB3 vehicles (typically 2021+ facelift trims) usually ship with both already enabled from factory — check for a "Phone Apps" tile before ordering.

The C8 Avant / allroad electric tailgate is one of the most-used features in the daily-driver A6 fleet — but from the factory it only closes while you hold the key fob button and only while you stay in range. This activation converts the key fob and the interior tailgate switch to single-press close: one quick tap sends the full close command and the tailgate closes on its own from any sensible remote distance. Opening (long-press) stays untouched.

Applies to A6 C8 Avant, S6 Avant, RS6 Avant and A6 allroad, model years 2018–2022 with factory electric tailgate; select 2023 models also supported. Not available on A6 Sedan (no powered tailgate hardware). Price: €65, one-time, permanent.

MIB3-equipped A6 C8 vehicles with the Audi Sound System (PR-9VD, 10 speakers with a subwoofer in the boot) only expose Bass and Treble in the MMI Sound menu. The subwoofer plays at a fixed level and cannot be balanced against the main bass.

RetroLab Pro unlocks a dedicated Subwoofer slider next to Bass in MMI Sound. You can dial the low end so it sits composed at motorway cruise or cinematic on longer touring drives without re-EQing every trip. Requires A6 C8 with MIB3 + PR-9VD — MIB3 is standard on 2021+ facelift trims. Not compatible with the Bang & Olufsen 3D system. Price: €50, one-time, permanent.
