Traffic Sign Recognition activation works on all Audi A4 B9 and B9.5 model years from 2016 through 2023 — including the S4 and RS4 on every model year.
The activation is identical across A4, S4 and RS4 and works on every European market variant. Even EU-spec B9s sometimes leave the factory without TSR coded active — the hardware is present but Audi leaves the function dormant unless it was an explicit option.
The activation runs through the RetroLab Pro app on your iPhone or Windows PC with an ENet cable. It takes around 20 minutes from home — no dealer visit.

Speed limits, no-overtaking zones, end-of-restriction signs and common warning signs are displayed live in the Virtual Cockpit or DIS cluster. The licence is permanent — if a dealer update ever resets it, just rerun the app at no extra charge.
