After activation, your Q5 FY's MMI Sound menu gains a third slider — Subwoofer — alongside the existing Treble and Bass controls.
The Q5's SUV body style creates a taller cabin with more air volume than the sedans and sportbacks in the lineup. Low frequencies behave differently in this space, and having independent subwoofer control lets you:
- Adjust bass depth without affecting clarity — the Subwoofer slider is independent from the Bass control
- Compensate for road noise — SUVs pick up more tire and wind noise at speed, and boosting the subwoofer can help maintain bass presence
- Match your preference — some Q5 owners find the default subwoofer level too subtle; others want to tame it. Now you can choose.
