What Is an ENet Cable and How Does It Work?

What Is an ENet Cable?

An ENet cable is an OBD-to-Ethernet adapter cable. One end plugs into your Audi's OBD-II diagnostic port (located under the dashboard on the driver side), and the other end connects to a standard Ethernet (RJ45) port on your computer — or through a USB-C to LAN adapter on an iPhone.

The name "ENet" comes from "Ethernet Network" — it is simply an Ethernet connection to the vehicle's internal diagnostic network. This is the same type of connection that Audi dealers use when performing software updates and module programming.

Unlike Bluetooth or Wi-Fi adapters, ENet provides a direct, wired connection with no signal loss, no pairing issues, and no latency. For advanced operations like writing new module data, this reliability is essential.
