Audi Q5 / SQ5 FY Traffic Sign Recognition UK & Europe — Activation Guide

The Audi Q5 and SQ5 FY shipped with the front camera and cluster hardware for Traffic Sign Recognition on most trims — the feature is simply left dormant in the factory coding. This guide covers TSR activation for UK and European Q5 and SQ5 owners.

Which Q5 Model Years Are Supported for TSR?

Traffic Sign Recognition activation works on all Audi Q5 FY model years from 2017 through 2023 — including the SQ5 across all years.

The activation runs via the RetroLab Pro app on all supported years (no remote session required for Q5 FY). It works on every European market variant, and even EU-spec Q5 FY vehicles sometimes leave the factory with TSR dormant.

How TSR Activation Works & What You Need

The activation runs through the RetroLab Pro app on your iPhone or Windows PC with an ENet cable. Around 20 minutes from home — no dealer visit required.

Price: €75, one-time, VIN-verified.

Requirements: front camera (PR-QK1) + factory navigation + instrument cluster PR-9S7, PR-9S8 or PR-9S9 (not PR-9S5 base cluster).

Does TSR Work with UK and EU Speed Limit Signs?

Yes. Traffic Sign Recognition reads local road signs wherever you drive — UK, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and other European sign formats are all supported.

Speed limits, no-overtaking zones, end-of-restriction signs and common warning signs appear live in the Virtual Cockpit (and head-up display when fitted). The licence is permanent — if a dealer update ever resets it, just rerun the app at no extra charge.
