How to Enable Trunk Close on Key Fob on Audi A4 B9

On the Audi A4 B9 Avant, the factory power tailgate behavior is frustratingly asymmetric — you can open it remotely, but closing requires you to be standing right next to the car.

After activation with RetroLab Pro:

• Key fob closing — Press the tailgate button on your key fob to close the tailgate from normal remote range. No need to walk back to the car.
• Interior button closing — The interior tailgate button changes to one-touch operation and works with or without ignition on. Previously, closing from inside required holding the button and only worked with ignition on.
• Single press operation — Both key fob and interior button become one-touch: press once, the tailgate closes. No holding required.

The power tailgate on the A4 B9 Avant is designed to open remotely but close locally as a safety measure — Audi's default configuration assumes you should be near the vehicle when the tailgate is closing.

However, the closing mechanism is fully capable of remote operation. The hardware supports it; the software simply does not enable it by default. RetroLab Pro activates the remote closing function through a proper OEM procedure.
