2024–2026 Audi Matrix Activation Is Now App-Based

Previously, all 2024+ Audi models required a guided remote session for Matrix activation because SFD (Secure Feature Distribution) blocked every standalone diagnostic tool from writing to the relevant module.

That has changed. Compatible third-party diagnostic tools can now temporarily unlock SFD via the OBD port, opening a 90-minute window during which RetroLab Pro performs the activation just as it does on any 2018–2023 model.

The remote session path remains fully available for owners who cannot or do not want to perform the SFD unlock themselves.

SFD (Secure Feature Distribution) is a security layer Audi introduced on 2024+ vehicles to protect the vehicle's control modules from unauthorised changes.

A compatible third-party diagnostic tool connects to the OBD port and performs the SFD unlock in a few minutes. This opens a 90-minute window during which the module accepts OEM-level configuration changes. Once the window closes, SFD automatically re-engages — the security layer is not permanently altered.

RetroLab Pro does not perform the SFD unlock. It must be completed by the vehicle owner before running the activation in the app. The activation itself completes in under 20 minutes — well within the 90-minute window.

Path A — App-based ($240 / €200):

1. Unlock SFD on your vehicle using your diagnostic tool
2. Submit your VIN — we confirm hardware compatibility and send a payment link
3. Connect ENet cable and open RetroLab Pro on Windows or iPhone
4. Tap Activate — done in under 20 minutes

Path B — Remote Session ($360 / €300): If you cannot unlock SFD, our guided remote session is still fully available. Our technician schedules a 1-hour session and handles the full activation — no SFD tools needed from your side. The remote session fee is included in the $360 total.

All models below support both the app-based path (with SFD unlock) and the remote session path:

• A6 C8 / S6 / RS 6 Avant: 2024–2025 (2026 uses a new platform — not supported)
• A7 C8 / S7 / RS 7: 2024–2025 (2026 uses a new platform — not supported)
• A8 D6 / A8 L / S8: 2024–2026
• Q7 4M / SQ7: 2024–2026
• Q8 4M / SQ8 / RS Q8: 2024–2026
• Q8 e-tron / SQ8 e-tron: 2024–2026
• e-tron GE / e-tron Sportback: 2024–2026
• e-tron GT / RS e-tron GT: 2024–2026

Not supported in 2024+: A4 B9, A5 F5, Q5 FY — fully supported through 2023, 2024+ uses a different platform architecture.

If you can unlock SFD, the price is $240 USD / €200 — exactly the same as 2018–2023 models. There is no premium for the newer model year.

If you need the remote session, the price remains $360 USD / €300 — the same as before. The remote session fee is included.
